In this edition of "Club Kids Radio", aired originally on Chicago's WCEV 1450 AM and wcev1450.com, host Harv Roman welcomed Elizabeth Rodriguez, Jessica Juarez, comic Gwen La Roka and Kasia to the WCEV studios to talk about the upcoming VENUS 2010 ~ Just BE: Soul Revival , A Celebration of Art, Music, Poetry and Dance - scheduled for Saturday, October 9th from 8:30pm to 2am at 1100 West Cermak Road, in Chicago. The ladies talked about the eight year history of the Venus Collective, the power of collaboration, the importance of supporting the Latino arts in Chicago and the importance of bringing awareness and support to very worthy charitable causes. Comic Miguel Morales also joined in the conversation to talk about the upcoming run (October 8th, 9th, 10th at El Teatro - The Chicago Center for Performing Arts) of his debuting one man show: "Where's Papi?". Miguel talked about his inspiration for the show and the process of putting together such an impactful presentation. Of course, as in any room with Gwen La Roka and Miguel Morales, the conversation included lots of fun and topical conversation.
The Venus Collective presentation this year will benefit Rape Victims Advocates and the show will also bring awareness to the Whittier Moms of Pilsen, who are trying to secure a new library for the youth and familes of Pilsen, Little Village and beyond. A book drive is currently underway and donations are welcome.
