That was great Harv! I listened to the whole thing and really enjoyed it. I'd gladly be a guest again for whatever discussion - how fun!
It's good to return to the basics b/c love, support, and mentoring can be so under-valued despite the huge impact each has, not to mention the ripple effect.
I feel like some of today's youth are too unaware and so they tend to place value on the wrong things. With the absence of such stations as WCYC, they not only miss out on a relevant source for peer discussion and discovery, but the guidance that the on-air talent had to offer as well. WCYC was a sort of after school program back in the day that not only gave youths something to look forward to unique to them, but also served as a forum for those who were succeeding to come back and share their stories and lessons.
I think I'm finally understanding why you're so diligent in keeping the discussion open, whether it be MySpace, Facebook, Club Kids, or wakeupdancing, and I applaud you for it, Harv Roman. Reply to this

Wow, Sandi...your words have really gotten me to the point of...humbleness. Most people don't know this, but WCYC stood for "With Concern for Youth and Community" and that was always my mission. Most of the english language students were high school age, with some college age and the occasional adult student mixed in. I have always felt that the voice of the youth needed to be heard and fortunately, my background allowed me to combine my passions for youth development and radio work. I may not be rich, but I don't think I'd trade my experiences for material things. It seemed as if Laura was about to get emotional during some of the discussion - I have to admit, I was beaming with pride. I am also proud that you were a part of the legacy of WCYC and that we have remained friends. You're a great person and I hope that our friendship continues to strive throughout the upcoming years. Tnanks again for all that you have meant to me, your fans and the WCYC legacy.

Harv, again thank you for having me on. I posted on my facebook the other night a quote from an unknown author...
