Chicago’s Union League Boys and Girls Clubs and artist Matt Lamb
    Present – Umbrella’s For Peace Parade, 2008; Friday, October 24th, 2008
Stepping off at the Miguel A. Barreto Union League Boys and Girls Club (1214 North Washtenaw Avenue), the Lafayette Union League Boys and Girls Club (2700 West Augusta Blvd.) and the Union League Boys and Girls Club One (2157 West 19th Street) heading to the Humboldt Park Boathouse and the Harrison Park Fieldhouse.

Come join the parade of 1,000 youth and adults on this historic Peace Parade featuring the Umbrella’s For Peace created by the Union League Boys and Girls Clubs and friends.
As an artist, sculptor, philosopher, and unstoppable globe-trotting dynamo, Matt Lamb is one of the most intriguing, confounding, pigeonhole-defying phenomena in contemporary art.
The intensity of his colors, the topographic sensuality of his surfaces, and the freedom of his gesture have been hailed in publications such as ARTnews, The Times of London, and The Miami Herald as well as celebrated in exhibitions at:
The State Russian Museum (St. Petersburg)
    Centre-Picasso (Horta, Spain)
    Centre Joan Miró (Mont-roig, Spain)
What started as a US Congressional mandate to aid orphans of 9/11, the Matt Lamb Umbrellas for Peace initiative has grown into a worldwide peace movement:
    16 countries
    over 60 events
    touching millions of people
The Umbrellas for Peace project aims to embed the message of
peace, tolerance, understanding, hope and love throughout the world. Its goal is to protect against aggression and war by generating peaceful intercultural and multilateral communications.
Matt Lamb works tirelessly with children and teenagers throughout the world who paint colorful umbrellas. Computers, video games and electronic devices are left behind, this is about hands-on creativity and an introduction to the arts. Most Umbrella workshops end in a colorful parade with Matt leading the way towards peace, tolerance, understanding, hope and love.
